Puerto Calero

The Marina of Puerto Calero, Lanzarote

Puerto Calero is closeby to the bustling resort of Puerto del Carmen, but worlds apart in style and atmosphere.

Situated on the south west coast of Lanzarote means it is generally sheltered and invariably a suntrap for most of the year!

The area is very upmarket and exclusive. Some of the most expensive properties on the island are situated here, and you will see in the Marina some of the most exclusive boats, including it is said, the Royal Yacht owned by the Royal Spanish family.

History and Development
Acclaimed developer José Calero decided to realise his vision by developing Puerto Calero. He has created an exclusive retreat to provide a luxury Marina, exclusive residential developments and for the future he is planning a new exclusive golf course for area.

Since conception a few years ago, Puerto Calero has seen some growth in a designer retail shopping area. Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Versace and other such names can be found to satisfy the most demanding of most retail therapy needs.

You will also find some very nice and individually owned gift shops, which stock more exclusive and upmarket goods than you might find elsewhere in Lanzarote.

Generally the area is tastefully landscaped and is a great place to while away a few hours during the daytime or evening.

Puerto Calero is certainly a part of Lanzarote that should not be missed.

As well as shopping and eating, Puerto Calero is a great place to chill out and look at the fabulous boats - it is not called 'Millionaire's Harbour' for nothing!

Why not soak up a bit of the luxury atmosphere that permeates the marina and carry out some 'people watching' over a glass of something.

You can easily spend a few hours sat in one of the cafes or restaurants that overlook the marina, without even realising how long you have been there.

Sports
If you want to do more than just sit and watch the world go by, Puerto Calero is the place for a number of water based activities.

Catamaran trips, submarine excursions and a variety of sport-fishing boats can be experienced and there are a couple of dive schools and kayaking.

There is a water taxi to take you to Puerto del Carmen, the next resort along.

Where to Eat
Puerto Calero is not short on places to eat, whether it is a coffee and pastry or a good quality evening meal that you are looking for. There are some bars too that offer simple snacks and of course, tapas.

Restaurants, bars and coffee shops will provide opportunities for breakfast, lunch, sundown cocktails or evening meals. Lunch is always good down at the marina with lots of activity from boats, excursions and general bustle from general day to day life. The variety is large to suit most international tastes.
